You can retake the exam any time. Each attempt draws a fresh set of questions.

Written practice, ungraded

Write your response in your own notes, then compare it with the sample answer. This practice is separate from the scored exam and does not affect your certificate.

Practice 1

Persona P1 requests large print and a paper route. Persona P2 uses a screen reader and cannot receive messages safely on a shared phone. Both use the same fictional EC-14 facts.

Compare with a sample answer

Both briefs preserve the eight facts. P1 needs a readable paper design and a way to obtain help; P2 needs structured digital text through a suitable approved channel, not an assumed shared-phone message. Neither age nor assistive technology determines consent or comprehension. Success requires explicit channel reasoning and no clinical or recipient-authority inference.

Practice 2

Draft D1 reads: Your appointment is on 18 December at 14:05 in South Building. Bring your passport. No reply means cancellation. Stop following your previous preparation sheet. Compare it with EC-14 v2.

Compare with a sample answer

D1 changes the month, loses the year, confuses arrival with appointment time, changes the building, drops the step-free entrance, invents a passport requirement and cancellation condition, and invents a clinical-instruction change. The corrected draft retains all eight material facts and the separate care-team instruction boundary. Success requires a row for every fact, including omissions rather than only conspicuous wrong words.

Practice 3

Use the four source/gloss pairs in the table. Create a review sheet for an authorised translator, without pretending that the English gloss is an actual foreign-language translation.

Compare with a sample answer

The sheet identifies conditional reversal, time confusion, false completion and invented clinical content. Source owner confirms intended administrative facts; competent language reviewer examines actual target-language wording; clinical content remains with qualified subject reviewers. Required evidence is exact source/target versions, corrected facts, recorded reviewer competence under local policy and channel approval. The English gloss alone cannot demonstrate bilingual accuracy.

Practice 4

Use P1 to P4 and EC-14. The draft text message contains only a link to an appointment PDF. The PDF is an image of text. The support route requires the same portal login.

Compare with a sample answer

P1 lacks the requested readable paper version; P2 may be unable to access image text or navigate it; P3 has no reviewed language version; P4 cannot open the link. Propose real text with structure, a suitable paper format, qualified language review and an approved staff route. All routes must carry the eight facts. The matrix cannot mark user testing passed because no users or delivery systems were tested.

Practice 5

Ticket A stores the whole patient history, says all approved after a spelling check, and reuses D3 approval after a source time change. Recipient authority is unknown.

Compare with a sample answer

The record needs source/draft versions, material change, scoped reviews, recipient/channel authority and release disposition. Remove unnecessary history from the policy-review copy according to approved handling, while preserving necessary incident evidence through the right process. Spelling is not source, clinical, translation or accessibility approval. The changed time invalidates affected checks, and unknown recipient authority blocks release.

Practice 6

Deliver two administrative formats for EC-14 v2, a fidelity ledger, translation-review request, four-persona channel matrix, approval record and correction tabletop. Use only the supplied fictional text.

Compare with a sample answer

A defensible pack preserves date, appointment/arrival distinction, building, entrance, item, unable-to-attend route and separate clinical instructions. It flags D1 facts, D2 access barriers and D3 pending tests. Translation approval remains pending. Report 9/12 confirmed delivery and 6/7 correct assessed responses, with three unconfirmed deliveries and two delivered cases unassessed. The release decision remains HOLD until real required reviewers, routes and tests are complete. Marking: fidelity 5 points; language review 4; accessible journey 4; evidence and arithmetic 3; approval/correction 4. This twenty-point self-review rubric is ungraded by the automated exam.

About this exam

Is this exam graded?

Yes. Every question is scored on our server, never in your browser, and you need a score strictly above 80% to pass. The questions are a real, reviewed bank for this course, drawn fresh for each attempt.

Is it only multiple choice?

Yes. This is a multiple-choice knowledge assessment, with at least one question from each chapter in every attempt. Written exercises are separate practice and are not automatically scored. Passing does not establish practical professional competence or independently verify identity.

Is there a time limit?

Yes, 45 minutes, shown as a countdown once you start. If time runs out, whatever you have answered is submitted automatically.

Do I need to download the PDF first?

No. This course's full text is on its own page, so you can read it online and come straight here when you feel ready.

What do you do with my name and email?

We privately record your name, email, request IP, course and privacy acknowledgement for this request. Newsletter consent is separate and optional. See /privacy.html for storage and retention. A passed exam creates a server-stored named certificate. An email confirmation is not identity assurance.

Can I retake it if I fail?

Yes, straight away. Each attempt draws a fresh set of questions and shuffles the answer order, so it will not be identical to your last attempt, and an attempt can only be submitted once.

Is the certificate real?

It is a genuine, server-issued certificate with its own verification page and a unique ID, not a self-declared one. It records that you passed this course's exam on this date. It is not an accredited qualification, a professional licence or proof of employment.
